Ramadan Highway Code

Ramadan 1431, (2010) - Program

This year, Maulana Sulaiman Saleem will lead the taraweeh prayers this year at the Jamia. He was the first hafiz that came to this town when the first taraweeh prayers were organized by the Jamia. The Jamia offers 20 rakas of taraweeh prayers, the same as offered in Baitullah as well as Masjid Nabvi. First day of Ramadan will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010 and Eid al-Fitr will be on Friday, September 10, 2010, insha'Allah. The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) recognize astronomical calculation as an acceptable Shar'i method for determining the beginning of lunar months including the months of Ramadan and Shawwal. FCNA & ECFR use Makkah al-Mukarramah as a conventional point, and take the position that the conjunction must take place before sunset in Makkah and the moon must set after sunset in Makkah.

Iftar dinner will be served every day. There will be two Qiyams; on the August 20 and and 27th of Ramadan. Please join us for all these events and Inshallah; we will have a very fulfilling month together. Please abide by the following Islamic guidelines and help us to enforce them.

1.  Please turn off cell phones before entering prayer area.
2.  If you plan to leave after the first 8 rakats of taraweeha please do so quietly so you do not disturb the others who are continuing on.
3.  If you are outside please keep your voices soft.
4.  Our neighbors will be sleeping and we do not want to disturb them.
5. Please do not park in the fire lines, Double Park or park illegally.
6. Please, no Jay Walking to and from the masjid.
7. Please keep your shoes off the floor and place them in the shoe racks. Shoes thrown around can cause people to trip and fall.
8. Mothers with children must use the specific area.
9. Please make sure that your children are not playing around in the parking lot during taraweeha prayers.
10. ISON is not liable for any injuries or accidents that may occur.
11. Please do not adjust the thermostats or turn off fans.
12. The weather during Ramadan is expected to be quite hot. If you do not wish to have the fans or AC, please be considerate of the others and use the center section of the prayer halls.

Those interested in observing Itikaf at the Jamia in the last ten days of Ramadan should contact the Masjid.
